Easy Set Up and Operation

We are dedicated to providing you with the best ice fishing experience possible. Our innovative foot pedal actuated device is easy to use.

  1. Place your locator, screen forward, on the base of the Duce Dropper.

  2. Starting at the front of the lift arm with the transducer hanging freely, route your cable cable up the lift arm channel (Fig 1, B) and between the washers at arm end (Fig 1, A). Adjust cable to desired depth (will vary depending on ice thickness).

  3. Tighten wingnut (Fig 2) to compress and secure cable between washers (hand tighten only).

  4. Fill your supplied jar (counterweight) with lake water to pre-determined fill line* and attach to hook (Fig 1, C).

  5. When you catch a fish, step on the pedal and the arm lifts your duce out of the water for you!

  6. Bring in that fish, step on pedal, push arm back down in to place, release foot pedal and drop your duce again!

Tips and Recommendations

Because transducer weights vary among brands, it is recommended to follow these steps at home first before going out on the ice:

  1. Place your locator on the base and set up according to instructions. Place whole unit on edge of kitchen counter, for example.

  2. Start with the pivot pin in the last position (closest to the back of the lift arm).

  3. Fill container about half full with water and attach to the back of the arm. Trigger the release arm and check to see the rate at which arm rises up. If rate is too fast, you'll need to empty container of some water. If rate is too slow, you'll need to fill with more water. This process may have to be repeated several times. You are looking for a nice smooth arm exit rate.

  4. If you are still unable to get a smooth rate, you have a heavy transducer and will have to move the pivot pin up a spot or two (towards the front of the arm). See Fig 3.

  5. When a nice smooth transducer exit is achieved, take the water container off the hook and use a marker to mark where the water line is (Fig 4). Empty the container.

  6. You are all set! When on the ice, fill the container with lake water to the marked line.

Other tips:

  • For added security, use the pre-drilled holes on the front and back of the base to route cord or rope around your locator to keep it tied down safely.

  • When picking up the unit to move, place the transducer on the base so it is not freely hanging and hook the foot of the pedal to the handle near the pivot pin (Fig 5, note red arrows). This makes it all easier to carry.
